The Whiner vs The Supporter

It was a Sunday morning and I was on my way to work. My Sunday was like some people’s  Monday, the end of my weekend.  I was dragging ass. I had stayed up too late watching mindless TV, working on a picture and post for Instagram. My night before endeavors was having current morning consequences and it was not pretty. I was not happy and chipper Mo. I was grumpy Mo.

As I rode the elevator down to the lobby, body slumped, head leaning on the wall, I began to lament with the voice I call the Whiner– and she was saying “I don’t want to go to work. It’s not fare that I have to be up soooo early on a Sunday morning, blah, blah blah blah blah” I was all up in my Emotional Childhood* At that moment I stopped myself. I changed my self talk to “I get to go to work! I get to go to work at one of America’s premier health clubs. I get to take the elevator… I get to walk to my garage and drive myself to work.” It had a profound effect on me. In that moment, I went from “the Whiner” to “the Supporter”.* Emotional Adulthood
I started to smile and thought WOW, perspective is everything.

Is there something in your life that you bitch and moan about? That if you just paused for a second and changed the words from “I have to” to ” I get to” – Changed up the verb….. I get to go to work. Or I have the privilege to drive myself to work – maybe just maybe you too will have a shift.

I was still dragging ass, I couldn’t replace the sleep that I didn’t get, but on my 10 minute walk to the garage, I was able to turn my frown upside down! Try it and let me know if it works for you.

*Emotional Childhood – Act like a child; not taking responsibility for my actions; blaming others for my circumstances

*Emotional Adulthood -Act like an adult; take full responsibility for my actions; be accountable for my choices

Where in your daily living are you not taking responsibility for what’s going on in your life?  Blaming others for your situations.  If you are interested in up leveling your life, or exploring with me; stepping up and showing up for yourself, book a free consultation…..

Right On!

Love, Mama Mo
